Also what “level” do you want to dress at? For example my wardrobe is mostly athleisure (work from home) with a few dresses/formal pieces (church). No in between. Also my shape is busty so I do well at particular stores- I find the fit at Talbots is the best. When I lost weight I bought a few cute things from TJ Maxx and then built out the rest slowly.
OP, do not take fashion advice from someone who shops at Talbots and TJ Maxx.
Scoffing at Talbots is a luxury for the small-busted. It may not be super fashion forward, but guess what, after age 20 you need clothes that fit nicely to look good, and Talbots is a totally legitimate option if you have curves or an apple shape. It is the only place I have consistently found clothes that look more expensive- because they fit beautifully without tailoring! Same with TJ Maxx- if you’ve recently lost a lot of weight, your body is in transition. You are figuring out what fits right and looks good and what you will actually wear consistently- you don’t want to make a big investment yet. I’ve been in this situation- apple shape, weight loss and all. Maybe you haven’t. YMMV. Also, there’s no way for me to prove this so it will sound defensive regardless, but I look damn good, especially in the DMV. I have an hourglass figure that I worked for and I know what clothes work for me. It doesn’t matter what store you shop at if you know what you are doing.
