I keep getting calls to pick up my 5 yo who "isn't feeling well," but who is fine. This is pretty new; happened a bit a couple of years ago but not since then. I get it that he really doesn't feel well in that anxiety doesn't feel good in your body, and he feels better when he's home because he's home. But it's asking a lot to ask him or the teacher to sort that out and figure out if he's sick or anxious. Any tips/tricks? He has a lovey, a note in is pocket, special charm, and kissing hand. What else can we try? Or is there a way to help him or the teacher figure out if he's sick or anxious?
Is this kindergarten or daycare? Daycare I would expect to step it up and work through the issues with him. You are paying them to provide childcare. If its kindergarten, Ive heard some teachers say that the end of the school year can have almost more anxiety than the beginning because they are worried about it ended, what happens next etc, so I would have long talks with them about that.
