https://jtrjujutsu.com/womens/ I did this with my teen and I thought it was great.
Seems hokey. I have a hard time believing that this is really helpful.
If you think Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is “hokey,” you haven’t tangled with a practitioner. ANY organized resistance to assault is superior to surrendering to the tender mercies of a psychopath. What a good self defense course will do is (1) help students accept that they can become a victim; (2) teach them to recognize common pre-incident indicators and attack patterns so they are less likely to be caught unaware; (3) work to ingrain simple defensive techniques; and (4) build students’ confidence that they can successfully resist. BJJ, like any martial art, has its strong points and its weak points. A self defense class won’t give the advantages of years of regular practice and training. But it is better than nothing, particularly if it covers points 1 and 2 above, since those can help prevent an attack before it starts.
