More like, interesting a club is using NWSL names in place of traditional team designations like "A Team" "B Team", etc.

MLS licensed club name affiliations to youth clubs a couple of years ago.

Accept, as stated above, it isn't very novel. It has nothing to do with the actual product on the field. It isn't even marketing because, well who cares, they're 8 years old and you would only see it in some GotSoccer tourney schedule.

You really like to over think these things and apply some agenda to the most benign things imaginable to have some deeper meaning.

PWSI U9 uses Nike and Swoosh as their team names. 
VSA U9 uses Lavelle and Sauerbaum
GFR U9 uses Spirit
Loudoun U9 uses Freedom

It's just a cute way of naming teams at the youngest ages that frankly these naming conventions have been used for years.
