I had no trouble getting Zepbound 12.5 filled at DMV area my small independent pharmacy last Friday. But, they know and take care of their current customers and hold the doses they can get for their long terms customers whom they know need refills. They say they will not fill them for any random person who call or start people with new prescriptions during a shortage. Also never had trouble filling my kids Adderall and Vyvanse prescriptions during shortages. Which is why I use them. Because they are loyal to their customers. For a year, though Wegovy and Zepbound, I’ve never had an issue getting my injections. Not posting the name of the pharmacy on here though- that would be repaying their loyalty with having 50 DCUM nutters calling and begging for the doses they are reserving for me.
So you're gatekeeping. Okay, thanks for sharing.
No, my pharmacy is gatekeeping. They are filling in order of priority. Because they are small and independent, they are reserving the doses they can get their hands for current clients who are already in the meds. If they have extra (and they don’t right now— they are checking supplies every morning and struggling to keep people who were on Zepbound/Monjourno before the shortage covered), they are covering new users who are already clients. For the moment, they are telling current clients who have new prescriptions for one of these meds that they cannot fill them, or, if they can fill a new Rx now, that they cannot guarantee they can cover next month. Again, priority for current clients on the meds before the shortage. You start now, you are assuming the risk of not getting the meds next month. I do think this is how it should be though. Just like doctors prioritize current patients for appointments, they are prioritizing current clients and making sure those prescriptions are covered first, rather than handing the meds to the first person who happens to call. Customer service, client loyalty, etc. it’s why you use an independent pharmacy in the first place. The reason I’m not posting the name of the pharmacy is that they aren’t going to fill your prescription right now. And I don’t want to repay their excellent customer service by unleashing 100 DCUM-ire’s begging for the medications on them. They only have 3 pharmacists and 2-3 assistants. They can only juggle so many calls. If I knew someplace that would fill a new Rx for Monjourno or Zepbound, I would post it. I will say that in the past, Costco has been able to get back ordered meds for me when other places can’t. And you can fill meds there even if you aren’t a member. So, it might be worth trying there.
