A club cannot hold your player card if you are fully paid with them. You'll hear it as a scare tactic; but they get in trouble if reported and are forced to then release the card, which most clubs aren't going to go that far. Try out a few clubs now going to practices. honestly it's so late in the off season you're better off finishing the season while having a new club) team lined up. The chance of getting a uniform before March tournaments start is low Coveted secret no one wants to share on here is if a coach/team wants your kid tryouts aren't even necessary. We've gotten offers after ID sessions for mid year changes or for the next year if we didn't want to switch yet. Coaches regularly recruit outside of tryouts. So, don't listen to anyone that says they don't because they are gate keeping for less competition or found out the hard way their player isn't as good as they thought for the teams they were trying to swap to and didn't get real offers.
Yeah, we’ve been asked to consider switching mid-year after practicing we’ve a few clubs over the winter. We did not bc it would have been a huge logistical adjustment but we did join in the fall.
That's very common. The parents that start IDing their kids way before tryouts (winter early spring) definitely get a leg up on moving to better teams as long as their kids is too the level of the new team. Tons of kids who could have made higher teams don't even get glanced at during tryouts because they waited too long and the staff already picked who they want for the higher teams.
