Coming from Virginia where summer PE is an option, just want to make sure I understand: only way to get PE credit in MCPS is in school during the year? I see some PE classes listed at MC. Is that an option? Am I missing anything? Not a problem, just curious if as a newbie I am missing something.
You are correct. Unlike FCPS, MCPS does not allow PE to be taken during the summer ( in person or virtually). Only Health is available to be taken during the summer. PE can be taken anytime during HS- only one credit needed. Many freshmen take PE but I also know many who take it during Junior year.
Another cool option is to take PE senior year. Colleges know you need it for high school graduation, and it gives you one chill class to balance all the extra work that comes with college applications. There is a class at MC that will count for MCPS PE. You need to take the correct class. Ask your Dual Enrollment Coordinator at the local high school. They will be able to give you information, but really, having a PE class on your schedule when you have a bunch of AP classes is a nice balance. Welcome to MCPS. Hope you all have a smooth transition.
