Thanks but I’m looking for a specific recommendation for a consultant.
If you are looking for "a consultant" who is going to recommend products and you don't want to go to Sephora, you are mostly going to be looking at MLM boss babes. LimeLife is probably the best product. But there is Rodan & Fields and Avon is still out there.
NP-no this is not true. There are a ton of consultants in the DMV area. Great ones who actually went to school for this and have credentials and references. Do a search on one of the local Facebook parenting groups and you will find a ton of recs. You can easily tell once you look at someone’s website if they are mlm or not. And also you can ask them before you make an appointment. Ideally-you want someone who teaches and has knowledge but doesn’t sell products. Check bridal websites too as these people also do bridal makeup more often than not. I have several friends and colleagues that have done these consultations and all have been with professional makeup artists-not mlm crap. Sorry I don’t have a specific rec for you right now OP-but I can ask the people I know who have done this and come back with some.
OP seems to want to buy products.
I got the impression she wanted to be recommended products that will work for her-not necessarily buying those products from that person. Because she specifically mentioned not wanting to be recommended all products from a single brand as they may not work best for her. Personally, if someone sells-they have an incentive to sell you the products they have regardless if they are best for you. So personally, I think it’s best to have an expert give you their unbiased opinion.
Have you ever had a MUA do your makeup? Most of them have a kit that is primarily one brand of makeup.
That’s what they do for like weddings/special events. She is not asking for that-she is asking for a consultation to find products that will work for her. Obviously they will try these products on her but it’s not the same thing as a person coming to specifically do makeup for a specific event. But yeah obviously if you hire someone from MAC for example that’s all they will have. But independent makeup artists are different. Doing a simple google search shows lots and lots in the area that specifically say they have many brands to see what works best for clients.
