So you just doing Intermittent Fasting? 12:12? I don't think that IF helps people lose weight.
Studies show that it doesn't increase weight loss over caloric reduction diets with no time limits - but studies also show that it helps many people adhere to caloric restriction if they block out half day or more where they don't consume any food. It isn't recommended for people with prior eating disorder. I like IF, but I can't do more than 12-14 hours because I wake up really early and I break my fast immediately with a serving of walnuts and a few baby carrots, because I know that cortisol spikes in the early morning and the best way to get it back down is to eat. When I did 18 hour fasts in the past on IF, it always meant skipping breakfast and that actually works against weight loss because it allows you to be in an elevated cortisol state every morning for hours until you feed your metabolism. Longer IF fasts would work better for people who are willing to cut off eating in the early afternoon and depending on the food you're consuming, that could mean difficulty with sleep.
