I had a little portable white noise machine I used for my kid as an infant, that you could clip to the canopy of a car seat or stroller and it would play fairly quietly inside it. I remember using it on walks and probably while sitting out on a patio or at a park. I never used it on a plane but I'd be surprised if it would be audible to others over the plane noise. Though if I did use it and someone complained, I would of course turn it off. I just think they must have been using a really loud machine for someone to hear it and complain.[/quote]
