https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-12-26/samsung-delays-production-at-new-us-factory-to-2025-daily-says More than a year after Biden signed the Chips Act into law, promising $100 billion in support to new semiconductor plants in the US, his government has made one grant of only $35 million to the American subsidiary of British aerospace firm BAE Systems Plc. ——— TSMC delayed in so far in az due to lack of quality workers Samsung in Texas now delayed Intel concerned about funds being disbursed —— Nice job Joe!
I see someone saw the Bloomberg headline. So where do the qualified workers come from in a single year? People need to be educated and trained. That takes time. Intel will get its money.
Seriously. Is the OP really that ignorant? Do they have any idea how complicated building a semiconductor plant is and how long it takes to get i) environmental permits, ii) develop a design and construction plan, ii) find a suitable location and hire workers from scratch, and iv) implement it? It's not like the construction plans were ready to go the moment the bill was signed. This is a multi-year, even decade long endeavor to build up an entire industry from near scratch.
Presumably OP is MAGA...so, yes.
So, CHIPS is about bringing back the US manufacturing sector, and the OP complains. Hard to take MAGA types seriously. While one may disagree with some of the specifics of CHIPS, it is intended to benefit the US manufacturing sector, which presumably is a goal that unite Americans. The idea that Fatty Orange, who went into bankruptcy several times and who completely failed at several other businesses, could do it better is comical.
