It was such an easy answer to the problem of having 95% women members, but I'm absolutely shocked that it actually worked with so many of them. Or with anyone at all, really. I watch Jeff and Shaleia on video and I have a very hard time believing that anyone would listen to them at all. I was wondering the same thing but ended up on the side of “There but for the grace of God go I” as you never k ow how your brain would react to this kind of simplistic problem solving seduction if you were at your lowest and feeling alone. The Cult really took off during the pandemic when so many people felt isolated and depressed. I had a family and good friends to anchor me but who knows if I was at a different stage of life when all that rolled out?
