[/quote] PP is referring to the old GBRS which had a 16 point scale. The new HOPE is more of a multiple-choice survey. It asks teachers interacting with a potential AAP student how often the student is observed exhibiting certain academic traits. Compared to GBRS, it emphasizes different talents sought for the program, in an effort to introduce a diversity of talents missed by GBRS. This will broaden the pool of AAP students and bring unique insights among the cohort of AAP students. For example, questions on the HOPE survey include how often a potential AAP student: - Shows compassion for others. - Is sensitive to larger or deeper issues of human concern. - Is self-aware. - Has intense interests.
