My 7 year old just got a diagnosis- not super surprising. We're all new to this; support is needed for him at school, but I don't know where to begin in terms of requesting an IEP vs. a 504. Can someone help me out?
Usually a 504- that provides things like priority seating, extended time on tests, etc. An IEP has more legal teeth but it provides specialized instruction or services like speech or special education. For most ADHD kids, a 504 is sufficient.
