So after one of mine got a full scholarship to trade school I didn’t hand him a check for the amount I had paid for other kids to go to school. Another of my kids required residential treatment costing about the same as two years in college. I didn’t turn around and hand my other kids a big check.  I figured they should just feel lucky that they didn’t need mental health care. And I never tried to equalize Christmas presents by either amount spent or number of presents - it will equal out by the time I die.  It is a little harder when parents pay for trips for only some kids. But it’s not worth being upset because they really are trying to do what’s right. [/quote]
