   Yes, that definitely should have been a shelter-in-place. Did they send a community letter out about it as well?
Yep. Here is what I got
Dear Springbrook High School Students, Staff, and Families, I am writing to notify you that at approximately 11:30 AM today, September 22, 2023, the school received information from an anonymous call that there may have been a gun on school grounds. Our highest priority is the safety and security of our students, staff, and parents. Therefore, immediately upon being notified of this information, we contacted the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) , the MCPS Department of Systemwide Safety and Emergency Management and the MCPS Office of School Support and Well-being (OSSWB). NO weapon was found. MCPD continue their investigation and all elements of that inquiry are now a police matter. Out of an abundance of caution, MCPD and MCPS will have an increased police and security team presence at the Springbrook High School varsity football game this evening as well as on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. MCPS takes incidents of this nature very seriously. Students may not bring weapons of any type on school grounds. Students who bring a weapon to school may be subjected to serious disciplinary actions in alignment with the MCPS Student Code of Conduct or subject to criminal charges. Knowing that these types of incidents can cause students to feel anxious, our counselors will check in with students throughout the day, Tuesday. fI you feel that your student needs an adult to speak with, please contact your child's counselor. Finally, I applaud the efforts of the anonymous caller who reached out to the school elevating the concern. I want to thank our school main office staff, admin team, and security team for their commitment to our established safety protocols which ensured this matter was addressed immediately. I want to remind everyone that members of the community may contact the school directly and anonymously to share safety concerns. Also, reports regarding student safety including mental health concerns may be shared through the Maryland Center for School Safety's Safe Schools Tipline (1-833-MD-B-SAFE / 1-833-632-7233). Thank you, Ms. Stephanie Valentine Principal Springbrook High School
I also heard from another parent that it was discussed in a class and a letter was sent out to parents regarding the "inappropriate" lesson, that confirmed there was a gun in an instagram post.
