OP, what does walkable mean to you? Walk to parks, school, even grocery is easy to find outside the Beltway. Walk to Metro station also, but often not in combination with the first 3. Walk to restaurants is harder, can be found near transit but then usually not near parks. If you really don't mind small spaces and really want to be inside the Beltway, look at the Bluemont area of Arlignton, and Falls Church City between 7 and 29 (north of 7 is nice but probably not in budget) But you will probably do better in Reston near one of the lakes, or in Town of Vienna. Personally I'd move to Chantilly.
LOL if what you have described as “walkable” was what people had in mind, everywhere outside of rural Iowa would qualify.
That's why I asked OP what walkable means. People come on here saying they want to walk to shopping like that is hard to find. So, what is walkable? Bet you a coke OP just has a complex about living in Chantilly, and actually someplace like Reston or Franklin Farms would meet her actual walkability activities.
Everyone knows what it means. Walkable means an easy walk to most amenities and not requiring daily use of a car. It doesn’t mean kids don’t take a bus to school for example. You’re being obtuse.
But what amenities? I WFH (like OP) so I don't need to drive daily. I walk to the park and some restaurants, and I could walk to the grocery if I only wanted to buy what I could carry. I only drive to kid after-school activities. I'm well outside the Beltway, in a regular unplanned suburb. Does "amenities" mean museums?
