What about risking their pensions and even their career employability just because they might make a justifiable use of force and the protester-class decides to target them? Not worth it. Let the crimes happen, show up when the perps are gone, take a report, tell the victim to file an insurance claim and go home safe at the end of the day. See a crime in progress?
