If your DC skipped honors physics to take AP physics 1 I recommend they drop down to honors physics. AP physics 1 even though allowed and recommended by counselors as first physics course is very fast paced. My DC had a hard time and dropped down on honors physics and was actually able to understand and enjoy physics.
People take AP Phys 1 after Honors? Who? Why? How do they fit it in schedule? It's not for STEM majors, and non-STEM majors wouldn't be interested.
No people take AP physics 1 INSTEAD of honors physics to boost their gpa. They take it as their first physics class in high school.
AP and Honors give the same WGPA quality point boost. The only students (in the general HS population) who should take AP Physics 1 are ones who are interested in STEM but won’t be at AP BC Calculus by 12th grade to take AP Physics C concurrently.
