When you say you want to get "evaluated" - there are 2 kinds if evaluations - 1) with a neuropsych provider who does an assessment that, for kids of school age, usually involves IQ testing and achievement testing in addition to computer-based testing that assesses attention and other tests that assess executive function. You will get a written report with a diagnosis and suggestions but the neuropsych will not be able to prescribe meds  Or 2) with a psychiatrist - who will not do the neuropsych testing, but will diagnose through an intake form and various questions and a discussion with the adult patient. The psychiatrist can then prescribe meds.

Whether you do one or the other or both depends a little on your goals. Want meds? See the psychiatrist.  Need accommodations for college - check with the college disability office and see what kind of paperwork they require - some colleges are fine with a doctor's note. Some ask for tests that a neuropsych is more likely to do. [/quote]
