This happens in other sport forums too -- there are times of the year with the lacrosse forums are busy and times when they are not.

One reason I think a swimming/diving forum is so useful is that the forum attracts not only parents whose kids are already heavily involved and highly competitive, but also people who are like "where should I take my 4 yr old to learn to swim?" or "would the Y team be a good fit for my 8 yr old who loves to swim but isn't that fast?" A unique thing about swimming compared to other sports is that swimming is considered a life skill that pretty much all kids will participate in at some point, even if never on a competitive basis. This distinguishes it from all other kids sports, even soccer, where many kids may never play at all.

I think it's really nice to have a forum that can serve as a one stop shop for all things swimming and diving, and where parents can get insight from families who have a lot more experience in the sport. I'm really glad it's here and have gotten good info from it already![/quote]
