Thanks for the input (OP here)! Yes, I do the stair climber and Peloton for cardio since I don't have to worry about the impact on my knees, so I know my cardio base is good. I've been doing an hour of cardio most days for 30+ years now, I hope it's had some effect! My thought is that if I can go out and do 4 miles, I can likely make the 10k. Bad feet poster- that is exactly me but with knees, so you are my inspiration! DD wants to run with me, so she will slow her pace. Unless she decides she wants to run with her friends, then I'll see her at the finish :)
Bad feet here! I finished in 1:04:38 this year! With my treadmill running and bad feet haha. 38 YO Female FWIW. You can do it! Definitely just try to clock a few miles of actually running or the shin impact will do you in quickly.
Great advice bad feet, and impressive time! Although I'm not as young as you, I'll channel your spirit ;) And thank you for the reminder about the shin impact- I do a lot of leg work (weights) and other cardio, but running is a different beast for that. I'm in need of new running shoes so hopefully that will be the magic.
