I have always loved ceiling fans, but that was paired with old school HVAC systems that were either on or off. I'm wondering if indoor ceiling fans are no longer necessary, with the new systems that run pretty much continuously. Anyone have strong feelings or experiences either way?
Not sure why you ac runs continuously...
DP. It's not the AC that runs continuously but the fan. I have mine run continuously year round because I've got a filter on the HVAC unit and it improves air quality running continuously.
OP here- maybe ‘continuously’ was an overstatement. The newer 5 stage or multi stage inverter systems mean that the system can run at 40%, 50%, 60% etc capacity. Rather than just ‘on or off’. It’s also different from just running the whole house fan - since the system is cooling (or heating) and not just moving air. The way it was explained to me: multi stage HVAC is like dimmer switch for your system. That said, all the above posts were really helpful. Seems like a few well placed fans would still be useful.
too much tech for my taste. harder to maintain/repair
