I also think there are some easy ways to figure out which is the better fit without really even thinking to hard about the schools themselves. ND is in a small town/remote location, GT is in DC. Which environment is more appealing for your DS? Also assuming you are in the DMV, would he benefit from being further away or is there appeal to going to school locally? And so on.

I personally have a strong preference for GT over ND, but I wouldn't want to spend 4 years in South Bend, Indiana, or its weather, and would worry that the campus culture could be insular. But I think that some people are the opposite -- ND kind of embodies a very specific experience of college on a picturesque campus with a lot of rahrah school spirit and the social scene revolving around football games and everyone going to the same bars. Your DS just has to know himself a bit and think about which school better suits his personality and his image for what college will be like.[/quote]
