Depends on the high school. Often it isn't clear how far back the scattergram data goes.
Does your school not show the bar graphs by year? Which MCPS school?
It shows the bar graphs by year, and those go back to 2018, but if you add all those acceptances (for highly selective schools) up, there are far fewer than what I see on the scatterplot. Conversely, there are far more rejections on the bar graph than on the scatterplot. I am wondering if they included some older acceptances and to kind of fill out the plot and pared rejections to keep it legible? It just doesn't add up. And, I know that pre '21 data isn't very helpful, but pre '17 data is really useless!
If there are fewer than three acceptances, they aren’t shown on bar graph - only in scatterplot.
They show for our school, though I'm not sure how accurate it all is. Some years are 1, some 0, some 2 (it's a highly selective school with 10-20 apps per year). The reason I know some data can't be accurate is that it has 1 kid accepted but not enrolling for one year, and I know at least 1 kid was accepted and enrolled that year. Maybe the apps and acceptances automatically enter, but kids have to update where they enroll? Anyway, regardless, that doesn't impact the fact that bar graph acceptances are over represented on the scatterplot, and rejections are under represented. Either some of the bar graph apps are acceptances and somehow only show on scatterplot, or the scatterplot is filtering in some older acceptances to have more acceptance data to graph. Unless someone else knows better out there! Maybe I will get some clarity from counselor next week.
