This is interesting OP. A friend of mine bought a new-build in 1999 and up until the time they sold it 18 years later it still had that new house smell.  I commented on it over the years (not in a negative way), she never noticed it but I sure did. There were two rooms in her home that she hardly ever used - the formal living and dining rooms. Both were at the front of the house flanking the front door, which leads me to think this is why I would notice the smell when I walked in.  The wood floors and walls were untouched and pristine, all the living was done in the back of the house. [/quote]
