DS will be starting in the primary program in the fall, and we are seriously considering the 12 month program. It would save us from having to cobble together care for the extremely long winter and spring breaks, not to mention all the teacher workdays, etc. The only thing that concerns me (other than the price) is the level of interest. It would be sad if he's one of four kids there over spring break, for example.
OP here. This is one of my concerns too. I think we are still going to do it because it works out to be slightly cheaper and it is less disruption than an arrangement with summer camp and backup daycare. But I really hope there are at least enough kids to fill the classroom. I did talk to the director about it and she said that although the kids may be in a different classroom on certain days and during the summer (which is what they do during the 11th month anyway), they are going to try to do the same Montessori schedule. FWIW, they have 3 or 4 primary kids who signed up immediately.
