today I was at an indoorplayground in Gaithersburg, MD. A big group of kids (preschool age I think) was there with their summer camp-could figure it our from the Tshirts. That's also how I know the name of the school. One girl (could be SN) had an accident and wet her pants in the ball pit. The caretakers got her out and at least 3 of them got sanitizers and gloves and started cleaning. The crying child was sitting there and crying-no one was playing any attention to her. Eventually I got over to ask if she was ok and she said no but I could not understand what else she was saying. Sounded like her name was Emmie or Emily. One care taker was telling her to take deep breaths, other mocked her crying, another one told her that she was taken to bathroom at least 4 times and she no longer had dry clothes to change into (no one gets down to her level, noone hugs her or wipes her tears). Another child points the still crying girl to another caregiver from the group who ignores her. The kids are lining up in a line to leave. This crying child is on the ground sobbing. another girl starts to cry-probably stressed out. eventually they walk out, someone carries the crying girl like a rag doll because they didnt want to touch her wet clothes. poor kid just cried and cried. If its your child-please hug her tight-she probably needs a good hug. I hope she can tell her parents how she was treated-although I am not sure how verbal she is. I have a SN kid and its my constant fear that they might not be treated kindly not so much by peers-but by caregiving adults.
Georgetown Hill had really dropped its quality over the years. They used to demonstrate quality, but now teachers don’t have basic certifications at certain sites.
