Is it expected that middle schools would have their staff hired by now? The MS we are assigned to had a lot of turnover, and lots of the positions appear unfilled. They are missing about 25% of the teachers in core subjects like English, science, and math. Bad sign, right? I can't imagine there are going to be many options at this point for hiring.
My child goes there and I don’t feel like there was much turnover. The few teachers I know of departing were moving back to hometowns out of state.
That’s good to know. I was just comparing the staff directory this year with last year’s, and there were some departments that seemed to list quite a few people. I think that is par for the course in MCPS now, with teachers wanting to move around to new schools or new school systems. It doesn’t sound like SCMS had bad management.
