You could get a cheap laptop and not connect it to the interwebs. Or save your writing to an sd card. Do you want to be able to go back and read them? Any reason why you don't want to use a paper journal? You could always write your pages to get your feelings out, then shred them.
I would love to use a paper journal. My main reason for wanting it to be private is because sometimes when in a dark mood I like to vent through my writing, and I've been on a journey of self discovery that includes writing as therapy. However, not everything I write is pretty, and I remember my husband reading his mother's journal after she died and there were things that no child should know about their parents' thoughts and feelings. I guess I want to make sure that if something happens to me, that my children wouldn't be able to see my thoughts that I dealt with in my life and my healing journey. I've dealt with depression my whole life, it has affected my life and my life decisions, it has affected my children on some level, and I don't want to worry about them hearing all of my feelings at some point in the future. I hope that makes sense. I love my children and don't want to hurt them by having them know how low I've felt in my life. But I also need to be able to write as it helps me process things I'm dealing with.
