I am such a fan of this guy as someone who was obese for most of my life (although not morbidly obese as he was) and lost a chunk of weight (my AMA is here), I relate to so much of what he says and does in this video and others. And we've both maintained our natural weightloss for 10 years - beating the odds (but I'm at least a decade older :) ). The gist of what he's saying: metabolism is not a fixed number, and you CAN increase your metabolism by exercising regularly. I have maintained that exercise for me was a big part of my weightloss and maintenance, and it allows me to eat a satisfying amount of calories every day - not just the calories burned via movement, but because exercise (cardio and strength training) INCREASES your metabolism at rest, so you burn more sitting on the sofa. I mean yeah, don't go totally overboard with what you eat, but you do NOT have to "diet" or restrict yourself, while you lose weight and keep it off. You don't need to run 10 miles a day every day or become a body builder - but DO challenge yourself and push past the discomfort. He and I are not magic and we're not anomalies, but I just wanted to share this to encourage people to move more, every day, going forward. It's great for you mentally, but is SO important for metabolism. And I'm a short middle aged female!
