CMU is very intense academically. Agree with the assessment that it’s a meat grinder. The students as a whole are very academically inclined. Probably harder to find kids who want a balanced social life. Pittsburgh is a great city for college. Lehigh is in the middle of nowhere but it’s pretty. Greek life is huge there and those who do it love it. DD has a friend who transferred out in part because she wasn’t into partying and couldn’t find her people.
Engineering at Lehigh is no picnic. Professors pride themselves on grading on a curve, so kids who were A students in HS end up with Ds. My Lehigh alumna friends sent their kids to Purdue, Bucknell, and U of Florida.
