Yes, obviously the "extra" money is going to the nanny, we would be paying less than $28 per hour if it was just for our family. But this was all negotiated with this arrangement in mind, so it's hard to say exactly what the value of our neighbor's portion is. We did handle the nanny search and will handle all the nanny related logistics (we've always had nannies, our neighbor never has).

Part of me thinks that we would probably be paying $26 per hour without them, and so this is probably costing us a bit more than $100 a week, so the other family should just throw in $500 a month. But part of me thinks that this is a much better deal for the other family than aftercare, and finding an after school babysitter who will work just two hours a day is an impossible unicorn. So maybe it's reasonable for them to pay more like $600 or $700 a month. And part of me thinks, we'll we'd have a nanny anyway, so maybe they should just be paying what they'd pay for aftercare or even less, $300-$400. Wondering what other people's thoughts are. [/quote]

You’re being inconvenienced with another child at your house while you work from home presumably adding to noise/mess and eating snacks. $500 is quite reasonable for the other family to pay. [/quote]
