What is the MD Training rate?  I’ve never heard of it. Is the swimmer paid that rate for the summer since the are in training?  Are they paid hourly or just a salary at the end of the season?[/quote]

“Maryland minimum wage laws allow the Maryland Department of Labor employers to establish regulations that allow employers to pay learners a subminimum wage that is no less than 80% of the standard minimum wage.”

I think since they are “junior coaches” in high school learning from the head coach, they can earn this rate.  Team pays them hourly.[/quote]
