It has nothing to do with attracting regular students or catering to the student body, it is all about getting large checks from ESPN and Fox. Meanwhile, teams on a shoe string budget still have to travel to away conference games halfway across the country. I'm sure UCLA field hockey loves to prospect of getting to Ames Iowa one week and then Lincoln Nebraska the next.
