The crackdowns in the 90s and early aughts resulted in DC's late-aughts-early-2010s cratering murder rates and crime rates. We let our foot off the gas, and now we're reaping the consequences of that; 2022 saw more than twice as many murders as 2012. It's high time we crack down on drug dealers again. They're violent, carry illegal guns, and removing them from our streets has second-order benefits as well.[/quote]

The problem with that story is the concurrent national rise in crime rates regardless of political policy and we are still nowhere close to the 90’s levels so that comparison is a far stretch. There has never been a time where DC did not “crack down” on violent drug dealers. What specific evidence do you have for “taking our foot off the gas”? [/quote]
