PP here with the trans young adult. Our family’s decisions about how to treat our child were not about politics or trends. We did research, did therapy, consulted medical experts and moved slowly. I will not judge another family who deals with a health issue and you should not judge unless you have been there. For my child transition has been life saving. No one is forcing you or your family to do anything you don’t agree with. (Although much like people’s views on abortion tend to change for their own daughter once you are living this situation your views often change).
Thanks for replying with this. Everyone should do what's right for their families and themselves. Unfortunately, some red states are persecuting people for doing what they believe is the best course of action and these families and people absolutely need protection in Maryland and other states like it. For me, the scariest part about this is that it's not even an election year. These types of issues are usually drummed up on the election year to try to increase voter turnout on the religious right. Will next year, being a Presidential election year, include even more aggressive bills? Over the next year, I'd expect to see an increase in the number of trans individuals in all the safe blue states. 8% of the US trans population has already moved and 43% are considering moving. I assume that the 40% that haven't considered moving includes mostly trans people already living in places like MD. 1,600,000 X .8 = 128,000 moved. 43% is another 688,000. This doesn't include nonbinary people, some of whom may not identify as trans. https://www.dataforprogress.org/blog/2023/6/8/lgbtq-adults-do-not-feel-safe-and-do-not-think-the-democratic-party-is-doing-enough-to-protect-their-rights
