Answer: it's tricky. Turo offers a car insurance option at check-out, but its stupidly expensive and has horrible user experiences on Reddit.

USAA personal auto insurance policy will partially cover a Turo. USAA will cap the coverage at the cost of the vehicle you insure with USAA. So if your normal car is a Subaru and you rent a Lambo on Turo, your USAA coverage will be max'd at your Subaru's value. Not sure about other insurers, but they likely have similar provisions if they insure your use of a Turo vehicle.

One option is to increase the coverage amount from USAA or your auto insurer for a few months while renting. This will cover higher value vehicles. Then lower your coverage amount once your travels are done.

Vast majority of credit cards will not extend rental insurance coverage benefit to Turo. Amex Platinum and CSR will potentially cover if the Turo rental is from a commercial rental agency, not an individual. Some commercial rental agencies are operating on Turo, so the coverage would be very dependent on WHO you're from and you'd need to provide a contract from that entity. Further, the car rental benefit with credit cards never cover exotic or sports cars.
