I like a lot of it. I hate kitchens without cabinets. Sure, it's light and airy, but where do you put your glasses and dishes? It's bullshit. I hate design trends that are disguises for developers saving $$.
I have a kitchen full of open shelving similar to this one and love it, and I did it myself (not a developer). Glasses go on open upper shelves, and our dishes go in a hutch on one side of the kitchen (similar layout to the one in this house, just imagine a shallow breakfront on the one wall without cabinets -- that's where all our dishes go. Pots and pans go in lower cabinets. We made the choice because of the position of the kitchen in the house and the desire to maximize natural light into the room from the one window and adjacent rooms. Ditching the upper cabinets opened up the room a ton and I actually really love the look because with the hutch and the upper open shelves, it just feels very welcoming and more like an extension of our living room. It also allows us to keep some plants in the kitchen. Everyone loves hanging out in our kitchen and I enjoy cooking there.
