For the true daybed size (not the "child size" pull down in Port Orleans Riverside or Caribbean Beach) it will just be a request.  There's no way for anyone (even Disney employees on the phone) to tell you how likely you are to get that request.  
Is there a reason why you can't book two rooms (of course, connecting rooms are also just a request, not guaranteed?)

How old/big are your kids?  Last year we stayed in a 1 bedroom at Saratoga Springs resort, and there is one of the "child size" pull down beds in the living room.  My (then) high school senior boy slept on it with no problem.  I think he was about 5'10" and pretty "stocky."[/quote]

pp above here- I was just looking around online and apparently the size of those pull down beds really varies.   Like I said, my teen son had no problem on the pull out bed (the one under the TV) at Saratoga Springs, but reading here, it looks like the Caribean beach one is much smaller.
