There are some men who wear suits in hot weather, often standing in line for 40+ minutes before they are allowed to go to their seats. There are women who wear high heels and formal dresses and look absolutely miserable trudging across (sometimes gravel) parking lots and hot concrete to stand in line for nearly an hour before the venue opens for seating. I am guessing they wear such formal attire for photo ops with their grad. But in large ceremonies, good luck tracking down your grad after the ceremony.
