Any test/pre-screening/evaluation by MCPS? Or just by individual middle school? Thx...
Most MCPS schools don't do this, but a few in the wealthier areas will accelerate kids with 250+ map-m.
My kid got a 5th grade winter MAP of 270. Should I push for this? (I’m not inclined to)
YES!! Your kid scored higher than nearly all *high school* students who already passed Algebra 1 class. We just had a thread reassuring a parent who had a 9th grader in Alg 2 with a 266 MAP-M. Do AoPS Alcumus Prealgebra (it's free) as a review/preview before 6th grade starts. If it's a total breeze, go for Alg 1. If it's a struggle, go for AIM in 6th and layer on enrichment (like Alcumus Counting& Probability, and the AMC8/Mathcounts prep material). https://artofproblemsolving.com/alcumus
