I don’t know if this is relevant to you, but I had a lot of damage after giving birth, and when I did pelvic floor PT, they told me to stop giving into the urge. I was up all night with a colicky baby, so I would P every time I felt the slightest need. They told me I was training my bladder to go to frequently and I needed to stop peeing every single time I felt like it and tried to hold it more. I was surprised because I always thought it was bad to hold P! It worked though.
Kidney stone person here. I was told years ago the worst thing I could do was hold it in. I swear before that, i was not peeing all the darn time, but now that I know I am not supposed to hold it in I go at every urge. The good news is any kidney stones I have passed since have been very manageable. Who told you to hold it longer? A doctor?
