I just did this and regret it. Went from a very flexible hybrid job to a full 5 days in person job. Commute is 40 minutes each away. Guess who just put in her resignation after 8 months and spent the last 4 months looking for a job? I actually like going into the office some days - 3 or even 4 days would be fine. But five days is too much. I was exhausted everyday and had no time to exercise; kids were getting less healthy meals and it just unnecessarily depleted my energy and made me resentful. My previous job has always been flexible and family friendly and the just became more so after the pandemic. Think hard about this choice.
I could have written this! I took a job where it was 3 days in office to 4 days then the week after I started, they did 5 days. Well after month 2, I was looking for a new job and I resigned after 6 months. New job will be same pay but 3 days in office encouraged but can be fully remote if needed too. It has to be better for life and family which I learned during Covid means so much to me.
