*The Tennessee Three apparently now have an organization and website of that name--tennesseethree.org--with information on upcoming peaceful demonstrations.

*Republican governor Bill Lee "signed an executive order Tuesday to tighten the background check process in the state, citing recent "recent tragedies."  The executive order requires responsible parties to ensure that all criminal history and court mental health information is entered into the Tennessee Instant Check System or provided to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation within 72 hours. The executive order also directs those entities to determine how the process for submitting such information can be improved, and report to the governor's office and state legislature within 60 days."

Gov. Lee also "urged the state’s legislature to pass additional gun control measures: “I’m asking the General Assembly to bring forward an order of protection law. A new strong order of protection law will provide the broader population cover, safety, from those who are a danger to themselves or the population,” Lee said at a news conference, adding that he would like legislators to pass the legislation within the current legislative session, which ends in a few weeks."

The WP Editorial Board just wrote a piece on him, concluding that: "Mr. Lee, a Republican governor in a red state, deserves credit for going as far as he did. His ideas may not represent the gold standard. But under the circumstances, bronze is better than nothing." This feels like momentum toward addressing the proliferation of guns in our society--hope it lasts but am not holding my breath.
