If your child qualifies for Level 4 services, you will have the option to access services in an AAP center that is matched with the elementary school in your catchment area. It’s determined by your address. You cannot “shop around” for a different placement. All schools are required to meet a child’s IEP, so there isn’t one school that is better than another. It’s just what the school has to do. [/quote]

This is OP. The way I can shop around, though, is by choosing where to live, unless I’m misunderstanding something about the way the process works. We aren’t military. We would be moving over the summer. Deciding between Fairfax and Montgomery County. The neuropsych suggested a self contained gifted classroom for DD, and they don’t have that in APS. I can’t recall her IQ score but she’s in the 99th percentile. I obviously don’t want to go to the expense and inconvenience of moving, though, and then find out that she doesn’t qualify.[/quote]
