Are you looking for a test prep book or something that will help with the coursework?
A full textbook.
This is the College Board list of suggested textbooks for APUSH: Textbooks Berkin, Carol, Christopher L. Norton and Company, 2019. Stacy, Jason, and Ellington, Matthew, J. Fabric of a Nation: A Brief History with Skills and Sources. 1st edition. New York: Bedford/St. Martins/BFW, 2020. I have taught APUSH using earlier versions of the Shi textbook, when it was "Tindall and Shi" and liked it for readability. If you'd like a free on-line text, both the Stanford "American Yawp" and Openstax "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" are good. While not an approved college textbook, lots of teachers use this: https://www.amazon.com/Advanced-Placement-United-States-History/dp/1531129129/ref=sr_1_1?crid=307MDGLFWOJJU&keywords=amsco+apush&qid=1680699018&sprefix=amsco+apush%2Caps%2C76&sr=8-1 which is a hybrid between text and prep book
Thank you! I have a rising 9th grader in the Blair magnet who insists on taking APUSH even though we are telling her how hard 9th grade is and that taking the normal/Honors level will help her have balance. She enjoys history and writing; her worry about the magnet was that she would not grow those areas as much as STEM fields. So starting some reading this summer just to learn how to read real history textbooks would be great.
Once your kid figures out the system it’s easy. I would recommend the you tube videos.
