We had a senior parent meeting tonight and I thought I heard that the seniors' last school day would be May 26th. Is this true, and what happens to their classes after that? Is work just excused?
Yes, they weren't lying. (I was there too!) Seniors' grades are closed out at that point. Classes with mixed grades continue with work and assignments that seniors don't have to do. (At our school, this year's graduation is only a week before the rest of the school lets out, but sometimes schools have much earlier graduations. I believe they routinely let seniors out on the same day (appears to be right before Memorial Day at our school over the last few years) rather than make that contingent on a floating graduation date.
