https://www.footankledc.com/providers/our-doctors/163/Thomas_H._Sanders,_M.D. Doctor was great but surgery was awful. I was unable to be weight bearing for 6 weeks, it was 6 months before I felt no pain and a year before I could wear normal shoes. I still can't wear any heel or wedge. I don't have pain now but my balance has never returned, I don't have full range of motion and I had back, hip and leg pain because of the year of walking poorly. I need to have the other foot done but have been putting off the surgery because it is so awful.
I’m one of the PPs that had surgery on one foot. It was painful, for sure — which is why I waited 25 years to do the next one! I definitely want to get it done before I get too old, though, and the bunion pain is now pretty bad. Dr. Neufeld has a “minimally invasive” surgery that is supposed to be less painful, and I will supposedly be weight-bearing (I was with my other foot). He did say that full recovery is lengthy (unable to run for for quite a while, for example).
