Like nearly all colleges, JMU accepts far more students than will enroll: historically JMU accepts nearly 4x the number of students they expect to enroll based on their yield/enrollment rate. So someone putting their decision in early or late makes no difference to whether someone will come off the waitlist as they anticipate this in their admissions process. After decision day--May 1--schools look at their actual enrollment rate, and use the waitlist if needed. If any kid is waitlisted, the odds are usually quite slim--best advice is to move on to another school. By all means, accept the waitlist position--but psychologically make another decision you are happy with. [/quote]
